Halchuck Reunion

The Halchuck Family reunion was August 27, and we traveled the 5 1/2 hours to New Philadelphia, Ohio to visit the family! First, here's a couple pictures from this last weekend.

After watching a boy work the machine, she wanted to figure it out...

Huge cantaloupe! We found this huge one at the local farmers market in town.

We traveled the I-80 toll road most of the way through Ohio, and we were traveling as Irene was getting ready to hit the east coast. We passed countless convoys of power company trucks heading east to help with the expected power outages. It was so neat to see so many different companies and people going over to help.

Now in New Philly, OH---the house on the left used to be my grandpa's. It was bright pink back then.

A couple days before the trip, Emma decided she wanted to walk! She wanted to play ring around the rosie with the other kids at daycare, and she has just continued from there. She still won't take many steps without holding somebody's hand, but she's gaining confidence.

Thanks for a wonderful reunion! We enjoyed visiting with the Halchuck side of the family.

SB Chocolate Factory

So I've created a monster with Emma. Her favorite person at daycare painted her toenails once, and she used something called "crackle" on it. I don't think it turned out quite right on her because her toes are so small...but then I figured, why not paint her toenails? So now she goes to the cupboard in the bathroom where I keep my nail polish, pulls out the bottle, usually chooses the bright pink, then sits in front of me, throws out her feet and points to her toes with the nail polish. hahaha! She has cute pink toes now!

We've taken her to the South Bend Chocolate Factory a couple times, and she loves this little playhouse. They moved it into the playroom with the other kids, so she also enjoys watching the older kids play.

And there is just something exciting about a new box of diapers. :)

July!

At Emma's 15 month checkup, she was 18 pounds 8 ounces and 31 1/4 inches long. She weighs so little she's below the charts! She's too long for 12 month clothes, but 18 month pants fall right off her butt! It's getting better. Her doctor was concerned that she wasn't really saying much yet and suggested having her speech evaluated, but I'm not ready to do that. I think she's just lazy. She's queen bee at daycare, and she gets whatever she wants from the older kids. I just hope the germs stay away from her this year when all the kids go back to school/daycare after labor day.

Corn! Yum.. I cut some off for her, but once she discovered the whole cob, she was gone.

She got a hold of my old purse and has claimed it for her own...

All ready to go somewhere!

So she dragged the kitchen chair over to the couch....then started stacking her toys on it. She's very particular about where things go.
