Youth Fair

It's already August, mid-August really, and I don't know where the time is going. Schools in Michigan don't start until after labor day, so we just finished the summer session where I work, and we have a few weeks to gear up before classes begin again. I kind of wish we would start classes in August because this pushes the semester back to almost Christmas, and then we're crazy busy over the holidays.

Another signal that we're toward the end of our official summer is our county youth fair, which is my favorite fair of the year, and it seems to be the latest of the youth/4h fairs in the area. We went last night because the weather is actually pretty cool, almost chilly at night. I was excited to bring Emma to it and let her look around since she's so fascinated by everything. She had to be carried for only half of the time, which wasn't so bad, and she tolerated the stroller for the rest of the time (she loves the stroller about as much as she loves the car seat because of the straps). Our neighbor's grandkids always bring a lot of animals to the fair, so we have to go visit "our neighbors."

Emma is now 4 months old and just under 13 pounds! I can't believe how much bigger she is, and how long she is, compared to when she was born. She would love to be on the move, but I can wait for that. Here are some pictures from the last couple weeks.

These neighbors started off as babies only a few short months ago! I hate that this is their last week.

Emma finally conked out in her stroller.

More of our "neighbors."

These cows are literally our neighbors--their pasture is next door to us.

More cows that were next door.

She's getting ready to protest.

The "Sheriff's Posse," our favorite barn with the horses that patrol and help direct traffic.

Hello there!

Emma's new fun seat.

Jumperoo time! She loves this thing--almost as much as Andrew.

Finally loving her tummy time! Instead of scooting toward her toys, Emma has figured out they will come to her if she just pulls the blanket. Way too clever, but she also gets her little butt up in the air and manages to scoot a little bit.

Father-daughter--I love this picture. I think she looks so much like him here.

Daddy's favorite toy---Giggles!! This is our standard new baby gift, so we had to have one for Emma, and she loves it!

  2. As for Giggles, Colten loved his so much that it no longer giggles : > I can't believe how big Emma is getting and you are so right; she looks exactly like Andrew in that photo. The youth fair looks like so much fun; we are looking forward to the Canfield Fair over Labor Day. This year should be even more fun than last since Colten is older and much more aware of animals. And we would totally love to get together whenever you guys head this way. Keep us posted. Miss you!

  3. So you have one of those that doesn't like the stroller either!! Neither of my kids like the stroller-it's very frustrating when you have something to do that they need to be in one!! Glad you had a nice time at the fair. Jealous of the cool weather-send some our way!!
